Microwave Backbones

MapleNet engineers and deploys high capacity backbone solutions that carry mixed IP, TDM and serial traffic.   MapleNet's redundant backbones for utilities are built with only carrier grade equipment and feature either east-west or 1+1 hot stand-by redundancy.   In most cases, the backbones are implemented using FCC-licensed microwave equipment. 

Extending IP to the Substations and Metering Points

Wireless is a reliable and cost effective means of pushing additional bandwidth to remote substations, allowing utilities to today's run more sophisticated telemetry, SCADA, surveillance and control systems.      A private wireless network is wholly owned by the utility, has a shorter deployment timeframe when compared to fiber or leased lines, and can offer more bandwidth in underserved rural areas.  

Serial-to-IP Conversion

MapleNet can convert serial data from legacy systems and transmit it across wireless IP links.   The serial over IP solution allows utilities to extend the life of existing equipment and slowly migrate to IP as needs and budget permit.  

Substation Security

MapleNet offers a full suite of Toshiba and Sony IP cameras and NVR's to help utilities protect assets and infrastructure.   The video equipment will fully integrate with a wireless IP network, and there are flexible notification and alarm options that can be interfaced into a utility's e-mail, dispatch and security systems.    

Mobile Data Services

There are numerous IP wireless solutions that a utility can put to use to allow field personnel to securely file reports and retrieve files via laptop or mobile device.
