GOSHEN, IN- MapleNet, Inc. was recently contracted by CallComm, Inc. to provide consulting and engineering services for a wireless project in N'Djamena, Chad. The first phase of the project has been completed- with a fully operating fixed broadband wireless multipoint system serving businesses in the capital. Future project phases will include increasing coverage in Chad to other Cities and expanding service into other countries in Africa.
As with many African cities, N'Djamena's business community has growing connectivity needs that outpace the capabilities of the existing infrastructure. By deploying a fixed wireless solution, CallComm and MapleNet have been able to bring a broadband offering to market quickly and cost-effectively. Prior to the introduction of fixed wireless broadband, companies in N'Djamena were limited to dial-up connectivity or installing costly VSAT connections.
"Our growing user base covers a wide range of organization types: education, government, private enterprise, hotels and cybercafés," explains Simon Bray, President of CallComm. "Access to affordable broadband is a powerful economic and community development tool for Chad."
In advance of the first phase deployment, MapleNet's engineers worked
closely with CallComm to develop a product suite to match the service
needs of N'Djamena's user base. MapleNet also provided training,
pricing models and remote support during installation.
The N'Djamena installation will serve as a model for MapleNet and
CallComm for expansion projects in other population centers in Africa.
