This summer marked a high point for MapleNet’s K-12 and higher education client work. Summer is always a active time for upgrades and build-outs for school districts, but this year saw an especially high number of projects. In the span of just eleven weeks, MapleNet crews installed systems for eighteen school districts in three states. The projects involved everything from tower construction, to high capacity point-to-point, to wireless LAN design/installation.
A number of school districts moved from unlicensed systems to higher capacity licensed solutions. Still other districts took the opportunity to make incremental upgrades to their existing licensed wireless links. In every case, each district determined that a wireless solution could deliver more bandwidth than leased lines and would have a lesser total cost of ownership compared to a fiber build-out.
Microwave projects mean tower work, and MapleNet built twelve new towers and structurally upgraded four. The tower projects ranged from a 180’ self-supporting Nello tower to a guy wire replacement and tensioning of a 30’ roof-mounted tower. Keeping all of the tower projects on track and on schedule required extensive pre-construction engineering and permitting. Fortunately, MapleNet has in-house capabilities to manage FAA, zoning, geotechnical and civil work.
MapleNet is proud of its standing as the top wireless broadband provider to schools and universities in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. Since 2000, the company has developed and implemented innovative wireless solutions that deliver high capacity at an affordable price.
